Not
happy with Kannada Kantirava Rajkumar
As-it-is it is unfortunate that there was an attack on Telugu
Association in Bangalore and pity is that Kannada film artists, who
are running an agitation for restrictions on other language movies in
Karnataka, didnot condemn this. In a recent statement, MAA president
Mohanbabu expressed his disappointment about the same. In particular,
Kannada Rajkumar, who is so much respected by the Telugu film
industry, didnot even speak a word. The issue is the ongoing agitation
in Bangalore for restrictions on other language films in Karnataka.
World Telugu Association has nothing to do with this.
Also in a previous incident that happened few days ago, some of the
leading producers and MAA association members expressed their
disappointment with Kannada Rajkumar for his participation in the
rally against other language films in Karnataka. On Thursday of last
week, a rally was conducted in Bangalore. Kannada Rajkumar played a
keyrole in that rally. This issue has been going on for a while now.
However, the issue got a turn since some lead stars took to the rally
on restrictions on other language film screenings. These restrictions
include not screening other language films in Bangalore during the
first few weeks of release.
However, the issue seems to be getting worse. Lately, more Kannada
associations are joining the wagon and are supporting the ban on other
language films. They are even issuing statements that they would even
go against law to achieve their motto. It is in the hands of the
Kannada film icons like Kannada Rajkumar to control this and stop
brining the linguistic basis into the South Indian Film Industry. Key
industry people are in the opinion that it is not the linguistic basis
but the quality that should be of concern.
