'Ayya' for Oscar :
Sarath
Kumar’s Kollywood super hit cinema Ayya due for Pongal has been
purchased for Tamilnadu theatrical rights and satellite by Oscar
Ravichandran for a whopping Rs 7.25 Crore! The producers Kavitalaya,
Pushpa Kandaswamy is laughing all the way to the bank as industry
estimates a clean Rs 2.25 Crore table profit for them even before the
release of the film! The cast of Ayya has Sarath in double role,
Napolean, Lakshmi, Nayantara, Rohini, and others. Hari also feels that
the film will turn out to be a turning point in Sarath Kumar’s
career just like what Padayappa did for Rajni or Nayakan for Kamal.

Industry helping Tsunami victims :
Tamil
film actors are competing with each other in donating money to Tsunami
victims in the state. Superstars Rajnikanth and Kamal Hassan announced
a sum of Rs 21 Lakhs each while Ajit and Vijaykanth gave away Rs 10
Lakhs each towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. And on Tuesday
Vikram who was away in Mumbai came to Chennai and gave Rs 15 Lakhs
cheque to the Chief Minister. Selvaraghavan and dad Kastoori Raja gave
Rs 5 Lakhs while director Shankar has given Rs 5 Lakhs.
Grand
publicity planned for Chandramukhi :
Grand publicity is being planned for "Chandramukhi", Tamil
superstar Rajnikant's much-awaited film and his first release in
nearly three years. Huge cut outs of the film, special ring tones and
a grand release function for the film's soundtrack are part of events
planned to publicise the film. Shooting for the film, produced by
Sivaji Productions, is almost complete but for a few songs. The
producers have entered into a tie-up with Tata Teleservices Limited
for the film's publicity. An announcement of the tie-up was made at a
function that was attended by director P. Vasu, producer Ramkumar and
the chief operating officer of Tata Teleservices, Madhusudhan.
The audio cassettes of Chandramukhi will be released March 5 in
Chennai in a grand manner and noted singer Asha Bhosle will take part.
Rajnikant, Prabhu, Nayantara, Jyothika and Vadivelu have given their
best performances in this film, says P.Vasu.
Mayaavi creates new trend in
promotion :
Mayaavi is being aggressively promoted by its producer Kalaipuli.S.Thanu. He has put up 21 larger-than-life Vinyl hoardings all over Chennai, with the biggest ever near Koyambedu bus stand, which is 60 feet tall and has a width of 120 feet! The 7200 sq feet Mayaavi vinyl hoarding weighs 1.5 tons and cost Thanu a whopping Rs 3.5 Lakhs. Already fans of the superstar has requested producer Ramkumar to have a bigger hoarding of Chandramukhi in a more prominent place. Let us watch the vinyl game.
Gemini Ganesan passes away
"Gemini" Ganesan, a popular south Indian film hero of yesteryear, died at his residence in Chennai early on Tuesday after prolonged illness, family sources
said.Ganesan, 84, is survived by seven daughters and a son. Popular Hindi actress Rekha is one of his daughters. Ji
Ji, another daughter, has also acted in a couple of Tamil films.
Ganesan, in his long film career spanning over five decades, acted in more than 200 films, including Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi films.
Two IMAX theatres
planned in Chennai:
US-based IMAX Corporation will be helping Sathyam Cinemas, a leading commercial exhibitor in Chennai, install two IMAX theatre systems at multiplexes in the Tamil Nadu capital.The first IMAX theatre is anticipated to open in March 2006 at the Sathyam Cinemas site off Mount Road, a popular theatre. The second is planned to be ready in 2008 at a location yet to be announced.
The agreement brings the number of IMAX theatres scheduled to be operating in India by 2008 to nine.
Jothika's own voice in
Maayavi- Kollywood shocked : Finally Jyothika has decided to give her own voice for the film Maayavi. Even though she speaks Tamil fluently, she never took a chance all these years. In Maayavi she plays heroine to Surya. Jothika plays an actress in the
kollywood film. The film is produced by director Bala and directed by Singampuli.
Vasundara Das getting married

Vasundara Das is known all over India as a talented singer and actress. She made her onscreen debut in Kamalhasan’s ‘Hey Ram’. She was also the heroine of the English film ‘Monson Wedding’. But vasundara was more interested in her career as a playback-singer.
Roberto and Vasundara had turned up to attend the Indo-American Young Achievers’ Awards. Roberto is a well-known musician in Bangalore. It was music that had brought the two together.
For a long time, the two had worked together in many of their music albums.
Roberto Narayanan is an Italian born in India. The two are going to get married shortly.

house raided :
Actor
Rajnikanth's Chennai Poes Garden house was raided by the Income Tax
officials yesterday. They seized unaccounted amount of Rs 2.5 crores
and other documents. Rajnikanth
and latha Rajnikanth were present in their home at that time.
According to our source , Rajnikanth accepted to pay the income tax
for the seized amount and to reply the questions of the I.T Department
through his auditor.

has been awarded Padma Sri Award :

the playback singer has been awarded the prestigious Padma Sri. It is
another feather on the cap of the incredible singing machine who has
sung in over 15,000 songs in all languages. Chitra started her singing
career in Malayalam films and later move over to Chennai and Tamil
films.She has won the National Award for the best playback singer five
times. They are for “Sindhu Bhairavi” (Tamil, 1986),
“Nakhashatangal” (Malayalam, 1987), “ Vaishali” ( Malayalam,
1989 ), “Minsara Kanavu”( Tamil, 1996 ), “Virasat” (Hindi,
1997).
Tough fight between ‘Sachin’ &
'Chandramukhi' ?
Vijay's Sachin audio release is on April 2nd. The music is by Devi Sri Prasad and ANaK audios. There are five songs in the album and all are fast and
simply superb. The songs sung by Shankar Mahadevan, Devi Sri Prasad himself , Jassie Gift the noted music director from Malayalam cinema and a major highlight of the album is the theme music Beat of Sachin and Vijay has crooned the song
Vaadi..Vaadi... The song Dai Dai Kattikkoda… is sung by Karthik and Sunitha Sarathy. The five songs are written by Pa Vijay, Na Muthukumar, Pazhani Bharathy, Kapilan and Ilango.Devi Sri Prasad has kept the youth in mind while composing the five songs.
The release date of tamil cinema Sachin is April 15th.
Rajini's Chandramukhi - Biggest hit todate in
Kollywood and Tollywood :
As per one media report, which did a survey on the range of Rajnikanth's recent hit
Chandramukhi, Chandramukhi might be the biggest hit in South Indian Films
todate. Chandramukhi, which released for Tamil Newyear, opened up decently at the
boxoffice. But no one predicted that the range would be so big. The film is a superhit in Tamil and Telugu. The report quotes an estimated collection of 45 crores for this film. 25 crores is estimated from the run of the film in
Tamilnadu, 8 crores from Andhra Pradesh, 3 crores from Karnataka and 1.5 crores from
Kerala. Also an estimated 7 crores will come out of overseas. It is estimated that a whopping 4.3 crores is collected from overseas screenings. As reported earlier, Chandramukhi created an unique record by selling about 1500 tickets online from secondshows.com for the first weekend of screening in US - the highest number of tickets sold for any film for one weekend from the launch of this site.
The figures add up to 45 crore. The figures are projected over the entire run of the film based on the present collections. If this estimates turn right and the film hits this mark, Chandramukhi will stand as the biggest hit todate in South Indian films.
Anniyan release again postponed to 17th June
Director Shankar's 'Anniyan' release again postponed to 17th June, but now the release date has been confirmed by the Producer Oscar
Ravichandran. Let us hope Anniyan will release on 17th june.
Anniyan going to be release on 10th June !
Vikram's Anniyan going to be release on 10th of June. Eventhough everything is ready to release anniyan, the producer and the director delaying due to business reasons. Their business idea seems to be a good one, because now there is no competition for Anniyan, Since there is no opposition of any sorts, the film is expected to take bumper opening all over, irrespective of schools reopening. However a new controversy has erupted with Ravichandran toying with the idea of releasing Anniyan with more number of prints. The existing theatres booked for the film fear that this idea to increase the number of prints will eat into their business.

20 : Shankar's Anniyan release :
Director Shankar's Anniyan starring Vikram, Sada and others produced
by ‘Oscar’ Ravichandran has been confirmed to be release on May 20
worldwide. A trailer will start appear in theatres booked for
screening Anniyan. The audio will be launched on April 29. Coco-Cola
is likely to be the official sponsor of outdoor vinyl hoardings of the
film. Nokia was also keen to be partners in the Anniyan campaign. The
prints will be around 150 to avoid over exposure to the film.

Rajnikanth is not leaving anything to chance as far as Chandramukhi is concerned. Everything from the satellite rights to poster designs and the pricing of tickets is decided by the superstar. He has put
"Thada" to his one time close advisors for last BABA movie.
Last week after meeting theatre owners in Tamilnadu, Rajni has taken a decision not to flood the market with too many prints of
Chandramukhi. The number of prints is likely to be 150 to 175 as Rajni thinks that it is wise to have a minimum 15 kilometres difference between theatres screening the film. In Chennai city, only 5 theatres will screen Chandramukhi . Ticket rate will also be a minimum of Rs 40 and maximum Rs 80 per ticket, so that they can attract the people towards the theatres. Rajni is working on the old MGR formula for success at the box-office - less prints, more pressure on theatres screening the film and Houseful boards. Let us watch what's going to

& Sachin going to dominate Mumbai Express ?
Kamal Hassan’s Mumbai Express due on April 14 seems to be moving ahead in full swing and is said to be on schedule, though there are some minor hitches. The trade in Tamilnadu is keeping its fingers crossed as everybody’s first preference is Rajnikanth’s Chandramukhi followed by Vijay’s Sachin. Except in Chennai and Coimbatore, Mumbai Express will not get priority over these two films. But Kamal Hassan is determined to release
Mumbai Express on schedule and in most of the areas the film is marketed by Rajkamal themselves!

Kamal Haasan suffered injuries in what could have been a serious
accident while shooting for his new Tamil film "Mumbai
Express". Haasan's accident comes soon after Bollywood star Ajay
Devgan was reportedly injured on the sets of Prakash Jha's "Apharan.
It happened a day before Parveen Babi's death. Although it felt like a
fracture, luckily it wasn't.
