Pedro the Lion--David Bazan's ragged, cynical tone echoes long after the songs end, and his lyrics are simultaneously frank and deep---a rare quality in musicians. Achilles Heel was the best record of 2004.
Lightning Bolt, Radiohead and the Fiery Furnaces also come close----I throughly enjoy bands such as the Beatles and Zeppelin, but their cessation depresses me----it's hard to follow a band if there's no longer anything to look forward to.

i robott,buffy the vampi eMy favourite film is "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", if I could actually live my life based on that film I would be a very happy man, especially the scene where Eddie Valiant is handcuffed to Roger Rabbit and has been for about twenty minutes of the film and is trying to saw his way through the handcuffs to separate them, at which point Roger pulls his hand out and helps him and Eddie turns to him and says "Do you mean you could have pulled your hand out at anytime?", and Roger looks back and goes "Not anytime Eddie only when it was funny", I've tried to live my life by that.
