Jeevan doing a dual role in this film, Cast includes Vivek, Abbas, Malavika and others.AGS Entertianments producing the movie and the cinematographer of the film is Ravisankaran. V.T. Vijayan editing the film. The film would be a Jan'2006 release.

IT raid @ Kollywood :
The Income tax department carried out raids at 19 Tamil film personalities houses and offices including Music Directors A.R.Rahman, Harris Jayaraj, Yuvan Shankar Raja - Producer Oscar Film Ravichandran- Actors Vikram, Vijay, Simbu, Jayam Ravi, Vivek - Director S.J.Surah, Actress Trisha, Sneha and in hotel rooms of Asin and Nayanthara. Little information was being given to the media waiting outside the fortress-like house with its 15-ft high walls, The raids began at about 8.a.m. Wednesday in what appeared to be an attempt to uncover black money in the Tamil film industry

There will be a sure Diwali box office competition between Vijays' Sivakasi and Vikram's Majaa. But the interesting point is, Asin plays the heroine role in both the films.

'Thottijaya' beats 'Ah...Aah' at box office
Silambarasan's avatar as a full-fledged action hero has gone down well with the audience with his new film "Thottijaya" receiving a great opening at the box office. Though S.J. Suryah's "Aa..Aah" was expected to do better, "Thottijaya" has won over.

The top five Tamil films at the box office are:

1. "Thottijaya" (Director - Dorai): Dorai's last film was a realistic offbeat film called "Mugavari" starring Ajit and Jyothika. But the film didn't do very well commercially. His full-length action film, "Thottijaya", however, is a winner. For actor Silambarasan, this is the second hit after "Manmadan".

2. "Ah..Aah" (Director - S.J. Suryah): In a nutshell, the film is about a famished-looking Suryah romancing with a hot Simran look-alike, Nila. It is highly doubtful whether the film will have the same magic as "New". Nevertheless, it had a decent opening.

Rahman has no rivals in Tamil music market
A.R. Rahman's new album "Ah..Aah" for S.J. Suryah continues to rule the charts even though the film is not a big hit.

The top five Tamil music albums are:

1. "Ah..Aah" (A.R. Rahman): The film is not a big hit, but the song sung by Rahman himself, "Anbe Aaruyire", has been topping the charts for the last several weeks.

2. "Ghajini" (Harris Jayaraj): The release of the film is getting delayed, but Harris Jayaraj's album is a hit and second only to Rahman's. The most popular song is "Oru Maalai" by Karthik.

Kollywood Headlines : Trisha is back into news
Trisha is back into the news, but for wrong reasons. Trisha, who is ruling the hearts of Telugu and Tamil cinema, was chided by the Chennai police on tuesday night at Eastcoast road, Chennai. As reported by the media, Trisha is having fun time at the beach road with her friends. As reported, the fun was quite noisy and most of them including Trisha are drunk. Police commissioner issued a comment saying that high profile people should act more responsible. However, Trisha denies most of this report. Only fact she accepts to is she was at Eastcoast road on that night and she claims that when Police stopped by her car, she was chatting with her friends on the road side and police left immediately after enquiring. Trisha is in Chennai for a few days after a 2 months schedule in Hyderabad.

Nayanthara in Vijay's Sivakasi :
Nayantara making a special appearance in Vijay's new kollywood film 'Sivakasi'. According to her, she had accepted this offer only because Vijay himself had personally requested her. Nayanthara is now starring with Surya in the film 'Ghajini'. Asin is the other heroine in the film.

Vulgarity = S.J.Surya ?
Tamil film Producer - Director cum actor S J Surya was arrested by Chennai city police on Tuesday in connection with a case against him for allegedly throwing a mobile phone at a woman censor board official Vanathy Srinivasan after she was denied permission to add a song to Tamil film 'New' because of vulgarity. Magistrate, Govindarajulu, granted him conditional bail.

Kollywood Director Surya have the guts to face Dr.Ramdoss :
Kollywood Director S.J.Surya , after his controversial film New, that was a super hit is back in form and is in the limelight with his new film BF (Best Friend), new name of BF is Ah Aah, At a time when producers and directors are going for Tamil titles fearing the wrath of Dr Ramdoss of PMK, Surya has decided to go one step forward by stating that he will stick to this title at any cost! Says Surya: “I had mentally taken a decision long time back that the title for my next film will be BF, and I am not scared of Dr Ramdoss. I will go ahead with the title at any cost and is not scared of threats as I am single and have the guts to face any problem that arises regarding the title”. BF will start rolling in the New Year and Surya plans to release it by May-June. Sindhu Tolani is the heroine and A.R.Rahman scores the music. Surya himself directs, produces and does the lead role in the film.

`Anniyan` item number in Mumbai! :
Shankar, Vikram and the crew of Anniyan are in Mumbai, shooting a hush-hush item number with a top Bollywood actress. Shankar does not want to reveal the name of this actress and adds that he will talk about it after the 10-day shoot is over. This song sung by Jassie Gift and tuned by Harris Jayaraj is said to be a sure chartbuster and Shankar is also using some top Mumbai models for this song. Remember that it was Shankar who started the trend of having attractive Mumbai models to dance in the background. However everyone is anxious to know who the Bollywood actress is? It is a top star as the whole unit flew to Mumbai to suit the convenience of the busy actress.

Simbu's Manmadhan in Telugu as Manmadha
The latest blockbuster in Tamil industry is Manmadhan. Simbu, son of T.Rajendar, is the hero of the film. Not only that, he also provided the story and screenplay for the film which is directed by Murugan. The film is a romantic thriller. Vijayalakhsmi pictures K Vijayabhaskar Reddy grabbed the remake rights of this film and is dubbing this film into Telugu as Manmadha. Earlier the producer dubbed Nagadevatha into Telugu. This is their second film. Jyothika played the heroine with Simbu. T.Rajendar produced the original in Tamil. The film is technically very well made for one song is completely digitally graded. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed music. Yana Gupta makes a special appearance in the film. Audio of the film will release on 9th April and the film will release towards the end of April.

"Mumbai Express" is on the way :
Actor and producer Kamal Haasan's new film "Mumbai Express" is on the way to completion. It is a bilingual film, both in Hindi as well as Tamil. Kamal, Manisha Koirala and child artiste Hardik are common in both the languages; other characters are played in Hindi by Saurabh Shukla, Om Puri, Vijay Raaz and Raza Murad. It's a comedy film which revolves around a 10 year old boy and is directed Singeetham Srinivasa Rao and Kamal have very good understanding.

Harris Jayraj music for NTR, Gunasekhar's film in Telugu !
Jayabheri films with NTR in the direction of Gunasekhar will start in June, says reliable sources. Gunasekhar earlier directed NTR for MS Reddy's Bala Ramayanam which got national award in 98. It is also learnt that for this heavy budget film Haris Jairaj is roped in to compose music. Recently Haris Jayraj composed music for Venkatesh's Gharshana. Murali Mohan will present the film. Gemini Ganesan is better now :
Matinee idol of yesteryears and south India's superstar Gemini Ganesan, 85, was critically ill and in the intensive care unit of a Chennai hospital. Ganesan, who is the father of Bollywood actress Rekha, became part of the famous 'trinity' of Tamil cinema that also comprised M.G. Ramachandran and Sivaji Ganesan from the 1950s to 1970s.
He has been unwell since last week, and his condition deteriorated Sunday. His health is better now. Ganesan was a chemistry tutor in the Madras Christian College and first began acting for the then famous Gemini studios in 1947. Born on Nov 16, 1919, he became famous as an actor in the name of the studio he worked for. The star of films like "Kalyanapparisu" began work as a salaried actor as was the system in those days

Mani is back in Chennai ! :
Mani Ratnam who was hospitalised in Goa during the IFFI for acute chest pain is now back in Chennai. Accompanied by wife Suhasini, Mani looked cheerful at the Chennai airport and said: “I am fully fit and there is nothing to worry about. I am back to my regular chores”.
According to sources close to the director, he is writing a script for a Tamil film for which he plans to start shoot by April 2005

M S Subbulakshmi passes away :
The doyen of Carnatic music M S Subbulakshmi died in Chennai on Saturday night of broncho pneumonia and cardiac irregularities, according to hospital and family sources. She was 88.The musician was admitted to the hospital on December 2 following a bout of viral infection, which later developed into broncho pneumonia.Her condition worsened on Friday night and she lapsed into a coma as she developed cardiac irregularities. The end came at 2345 IST.She was also a chronic diabetic for nearly four decades.She was conferred India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, in 1996. MS Subbalakshmi is honored with many honors including Padmabushan, Padmavibushan, Raman Megaseysey, Esai Vani, Sangitha Kalanidhi and others.

Prashanth- On a high! :

After Shock his next release is Ayutham, an action entertainer with Sneha as heroine.Right now he is working on Adaikalam , a family drama that deals with human emotions. Rajni, Nayantara in New Zealand for kollywood :
Rajnikanth and Nayantara will fly to New Zealand shortly for the shooting of a song sequence for the film Chandramukhi. They will be there for a week. The film produced under the banner of Shivaji Productions will also have Prabhu and Jyothika. Jyothika had replaced Simran in the film. Also include Sheela, Vinayaprasad, Vadivelu, Vijayakumar, Mumbai villain Sonu and many others. The film will be shot in Hyderabad, Mysore and many other places.

Nayantara is the new flavor of Kollywood :
Another Malaylee girl Nayantara, the smoldering beauty with sparkling eyes and pouting lips is the new flavour of Kollywood. This girl from Tiruvalla in Kerala is making rapid strides in Tamil tinsel town after she has been signed for two big films opposite superstars. She is the heroine of Rajnikanth in Chandramukhi and Sarath Kumar in Ayya. Both are top banners and big films releasing for Tamil New year Day and Pongal. Ayya is produced by Kavitaalaya and director Hari was so impressed by her work says: “She picked up her dialogues and is a quick learner. Raghuvaran-Rohini finally separated! :
Raghuvaran the villain and character artiste of Tamil films and his wife ex-actress Rohini has finally separated at the family court in Chennai. Through mediators the family court had tried their best to bring the couple together during the last six months. Finally the judge at the family court Pushpa Doraiswamy said that it was not possible for them to live together and now they can go their separate ways.

Genelia gets Vijay! :
Last week producer Kalaipuli S.Thanu had a photo-shoot for his latest film Sachin with Vijay, Genelia and Bipasha Basu. Later Thanu sorted out the vexing issue of who the heroine is and the number of songs to be picturised on her. Now it is official that Genelia is the heroine of the film and Bipasha Basu is only doing a special appearance and a few scenes with Vijay.

Chandramukhi as per schedule :
The shooting of the tamil movie Chandramukhi is fast growing with April 14th 2005 as the target date to release the movie. Now the team is working in their 3rd schedule, this will go on till December 30th. Shooting takes place in Chennai, Mysore, Bangalore and Trivandrum.

'Jayam' Ravi is victorious second time! :
Jayam Ravi is the hottest hero among the younger lot of stars in the Tamil cine world. His M.Kumaran Son of Mahalakshmi is a super smash hit like his earlier film Jayam. The trade is happy about the performance of the film at the box-office.
In Chennai city and all over Tamilnadu the film is still holding on in spite of opposition from five big Diwali releases. What has worked wonders for the film is the age old Thai Pasam (mother-son bonding) and the Mohan family has to be congratulated for picking the right subjects for remake into Tamil. And Ravi comes across as a polite guy with a boy-next-door image which has worked well with the family audience. And due to his tall, handsome-looks he has been able to get a large female audience for his films. This image as a perfect gentleman will go a long way in boosting his fledging career in an industry where half a hit and young heroes think that they are superstars

Manisha Koirala, Kamal’s heroine? :
It is almost certain that Manisha Koirala is the heroine of Kamal Hassan’s Mumbai Express directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao. Remember that Kamal had tried to get the dates of Madhuri Dixit to do the female lead but when the actress quoted Rs 1.25 Crore, he quietly made a retreat. Then several names were tossed up like Tabu, Bipasha Basu and Kajol. Tabu for some strange reasons plainly refused and flew down to Hyderabad to be Chiranjeevi’s heroine in his new film. Then there was a battle between Kamal and producer Kalaipuli S.Thanu for Bipasha Basu’s dates. The actress asked Kamal for a whopping Rs 75 Lakhs and has now decided to do the film opposite Vijay in Sachin. So finally Manisha Koirala is the front runner for Mumbai Express. Manisha has already acted opposite Kamal in Indian and Aalavanthan and her last film in Tamil was Baba, a super flop.

Dhanush weds Rajnikant's daughter:
Popular Tamil star Dhanush Thursday married Aishwarya, daughter of superstar Rajnikant. The marriage took place in Rajnikant's Poes Garden house according to Vedic rites. Dhanush tied the maangalyam around the neck of the bride at an early morning function attended by Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha. Chief minister later blessed the newly weds. All India Super Star Shah Rukh's home burgled, employees questioned:
Jewellery worth Rs 4,00,000 and cash Rs 60,000 have been reported stolen from all india superstar Shah Rukh Khan's house here following which police are questioning his domestic employees.Among those questioned are maidservants, drivers and others responsible for maintaining 'Mannat', the posh bungalow in Bandra Bandstand where the actor lives. Police refused to say if any of them was suspected for the robbery.
Police say jewellery and cash worth nearly Rs.500,000 have been stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday. Police refused to divulge further details but said the case was filed Wednesday morning. Police suspect the burglary to be an inside job since the actor has hired private security agencies to guard his house. 'Mannat' is a major landmark due to its impressive facade, which draws a number of bystanders. Police earlier told reporters that the valuables did not belong to the Khans but to some visitors who were staying overnight.

Its Jothika in Chandramukhi NOT Simran : Prabhu's heroine in Chandramukhi is Jothika and not Simran. P.Vasu planned to shoot a song sequence in the month of February 2005 , as Simran confirmed about her pregnancy after completing two days of shooting with Prabhu, sivaji productions and p.vasu removed her from the project. Now Jothika is going to play the role.

Rajni invites Jayalalithaa and Karunanidhi to daughter's wedding :
Tamil superstar Rajnikanth today called on Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden residence and invited her to his elder daughter Aishwarya's marriage to be held on November 18. Rajnikanth, accompanied by his wife Latha, arrived at 'Veda Nilayam' around 9 am and spent nearly 30 minutes there. The couple was soon joined by the bridegroom, Dhanush, along with his director-father Kasturiraja. Dhanush and Aishwarya will enter into wedlock at a simple ceremony to be conducted at the residence of Rajnikanth, who is also a resident of the posh Poes Garden area. The superstar, once an acerbic critic of Jayalalithaa, has since mended fences with her, especially after he hailed her for announcing a slew of concessions to the film industry and eliminating forest brigand Veerappan. Rajni also called on Karunanidhi , the leader of D.M.K Party at his Gopalapuram residence and invited him to the marriage.

Parthipan resigns from Nadigar Sangam! :
Parthipan has resigned from the Nadigar Sangam, showing the deep fissures in the organization, following Jayalalithaa’s thanksgiving function held recently in Chennai. There is a feeling inside the film industry that Nadigar Sangam president Vijaykanth hijacked the show and made it a personal affair in which only his supporters were given top billing. Remember that it was Parthipan who ignited the anti-piracy movement by observing a fast in front of film chamber office on the release of his Kudaikkul Mazhai. Says Parthipan: “Actually it was my unnavirutham (fast) that had caught the attention of the public, government and media at a time when video piracy was rampant. But when it came to the ‘Thanksgiving” function to the Chief Minister, my name was not included in the list of people to be seated on the dais and deliver a speech”. Added Parthipan: “There was a deliberate attempt to play down my role in the fight against video pirates. I had to fight tooth and nail to get on the coveted list of speakers at the function”. Parthipan also adds that some of the actors have ‘king sized ego’s and he is in no mood to massage their ego’s and so he is resigning from the Nadigar Sangam. Parthepan rejected the request to reconsider the resignation.The resignation of Parthipan is the beginning of a move to topple the Vijaykanth regime, which has also the backing of powerful personalities in the industry.
Nayantara as Rajani's heroine in Chandramukhi: Nayantara will play heroine to Rajanikanth in his forthcoming film Chandramukhi directed by P Vasu for Shivaji Productions. Simran will be paired opposite Prabhu. The film will have six songs and five stunt scenes. The film also has twenty other stars.

Rajnikanth to spent Rs 15 Lakhs for charity! :
Our superstar Rajnikanth has been helping the poor and needy for the last 24 years. He always prefers to keep them a low-key affair without much publicity. This year also he has decided to distribute sweets, crackers and new clothes for Diwali.

'Attahaasam' will decide ?
Diwali release "Attahaasam" is the most anticipated film of this month mainly because it is directed by Saran, and also because a movie with Ajit as hero is hitting the theatres after a long time.Expectations are high mainly because Saran's last film "Vasool Raja M.B.B.S." is a big hit all over Tamil Nadu.The fact is it is not Saran who needs a hit badly now but Ajit. All his contemporaries like Vijay and Vikram have had big successes at the box office in recent times, but not Ajit.This is the third time that Ajit is acting under Saran's direction. The first time was in "Kaadhal Mannan" in which Saran presented Ajit as a romantic hero. The second one was "Amarkkalam", a turning point in Ajit's career and life. It was during the filming of "Amarkkalam" that Ajit fell in love with his heroine Shalini and got married to her soon after. It was also "Amarkkalam" that launched Ajit's career as an action hero.Saran has written the story of "Attahaasam" with an intention of giving Ajit yet another new image -- that of an action hero who can also do comedy effectively. This is Ajit's first comedy role.Ajit has a double role in the film, as Guru and Jeeva. Guru is a fun loving man who runs a driving school, and Jeeva is a local thug in Thoothikudi. You are right, they are twins separated at birth! As Guru, Ajit gets to do a lot of comedy, and as Jeeva he gets to perform a lot of stunts. The other two films in which Ajit got to do double roles were "Vaali" and "Villain". The S.J. Suryah-directed "Vaali" was a blockbuster while "Villain" was not as successful. The stunts in "Attahaasam" are rumoured to be breathtaking. In one fight scene, Ajit fights blindfolded using a sickle as a weapon. In another scene, he fights 90 hoodlums! The three villains in the film -- Babu Antony, Jasper and Mahadevan of "Pithaamahan" fame , have 30 hoodlums each under them. In one stunt scene, 25 Tata Sumos were used and destroyed. Paired opposite Ajit is Pooja, who played the second lead in Saran's "Jay Jay" which had Madhavan as the hero. Other actors include Sujatha, Haneefa, Nizhalkal Ravi, and Ilavarasu. Music is by Bharadwaj who, like Saran, is on a high after the success of "Vasool Raja". Lyrics are by Vairamuthu. Cinematographer is A. Venkatesh.

Vijay, Cheran to come together? :
"Swargachitra" Appachan, Malayalam cinema's leading producer and distributor has managed a casting coup by bringing together superstar Vijay and director Cheran in a film which is tentatively titled Diary. Gopika is likely to be one of the heroines.
Appachan has excellent equations with Vijay as they had done Friends in the past, which was a super hit. Now Vijay after completing Tirupachi will do Kalaipuli.S.Thanu's Sachin which will be followed by this film.

Simran, Deepak in an ad film :
Simran and her husband Deepak Bagga are acting together in an ad film, which was shot at the AVM studio in Chennai on Friday. Simran says that she will celebrating her first wedding anniversary on the 2nd of December and that she is happy and content.
The actress is also thrilled that she has been chosen to play the heroine's role in Rajnikanth's Chandramukhi and adds that it is "once in a lifetime chance to work with the superstar". She feels her pivotal role in the film may get her an award.

Dhanush wed Rajini's daughter :
: Dhanush, the youngest hero of Tamil cinema, will next month marry Aishwarya, the daughter of Superstar Rajnikanth. Lean and lanky Dhanush, who is in his early 20s and rose to stardom playing the adolescent lover in films like "Kaadhal Kondein" and "Sullan", has said his marriage will take place Nov 18.He said his parents had finalised the marriage proposal, which had been a closely guarded secret so far.Earlier, when he was asked about reports of his proposed marriage with "a superstar's daughter", he had said: "It's news to me." He had added: "Mine will definitely be a love marriage only. My parents also know about it and they have no objection. But who, where and when I can't say." Now he has told everyone.Dhanush's father is Kasturi Raja, a film producer. The actor's brother is Selvaraghavan, who has directed Dhanush's films as well. Dhanush said he and Aishwarya wanted the marriage to be "a simple affair" and keep it that way, though the fans and the media will be invited. Yesterday Rajnikanth endorsed the announcement made by Danush .

Sathyaraj to meet Bengal hangman:
Now a Tamil film star is set to emulate Nata Mullick - the man who hanged rapist-murderer Dhananjoy Chatterjee - for a silver screen role.Sathyaraj, the veteran and versatile star who has played hero as well as villain in his career, plans to visit Kolkata to meet the hangman. Sathyaraj is playing the role of a hangman in a film titled "Perumalsamy", being directed by Harirajan who will accompany the star to the West Bengal capital. He has a double role in the film, as both hero and villain. The hero, incidentally, is the hangman.Publicity managers for "Perumalsamy" claim that this will be the first Indian film to feature a hangman as a hero. Sibiraj, son of Sathyaraj, plays the star's son in the film too. The father-son duo had acted earlier in "Jore". Sathyaraj and Harirajan had teamed up earlier in "Iyer IPS", which was widely noticed.

Revathi goes missing from a car race in the Himalayas!
Actress Revathi had recently been to the beautiful Himalayas, no, she did not go there either to shoot nor did she go there for a holiday. Then why on earth did she have to go there? If that’s what you are thinking then here is the answer, she went there to participate in a car race (!). The race began and the actress set out in her car accompanied by some others. Soon her car lost its way and to add to everything the walkie-talkie installed in the car also stopped working. This was when everybody got worried but then, just like it happens in most of the films the car did emerge and no harm had occurred to any of the commuters in the car.Seems like the actress did have a real experience, wonder what she must have felt when she realized that she was lost in a huge terrain of those mountains!!

Smiles return to Kollywood
Kusbhboo Sundar , who turned a producer with the Arjun-starrer "Giri," is all smiles these days as the film has taken a good opening and continues to do well at the box-office. The film opened three days after the Tamil Nadu Government issued an ordinance to bring video piracy under the purview of the Goondas Act. It had an immediate effect as the pirated CDs and DVDs of the film are yet to see the light of day. Kushboo and husband Sundar. C had employed a detective agency to get hold of the pirated copies of the film, but thankfully none were found. Normally CDs of a new film are available on the day of its release itself.

Determined to dance
KUTTY IS a one-legged dancer and his performances invariably astound and inspire audiences. Witnessing one such performance by him in 2001, director KR promised the dancer a role in his next venture. Many were surprised when the director said it would not be an inconsequential role, but the lead. "Kutty will be the protagonist of my next film," KR had said.That was how "Dancer" was born, a film which has taken three years to make. The climax was shot recently at Prasad Studios, and in the grand finale, Kutty totters and falls down on the stage. He is taking part in a contest and time is running out. The heroine, played by the svelte Kanika, sings an inspirational song and the audience, some of whom are handicapped, cheer him. And, the reader can guess the rest.
