Fashion & Design Promotion Council Announces the First Ever India Fashion and Design Week - Spring /Summer 2010
Also Unveils India Design Vision 2015 - Poised to Achieve INR 20 billion worth for Indian Designer Wear by 2015
New Delhi, Delhi, India, Wednesday, July 22, 2009 -- (BWI ) -- Fashion & Design Promotion Council (Sponsored by the Ministry of Textiles - Govt. of India), today announced the India Fashion & Design Week - Spring / Summer 2010 - as the unified fashion consortium of the Indian Designer Wear segment. This prestigious event is scheduled from October 23 to October 27, 2009 in New Delhi. In parallel conjunction, FDPC will also put under the spotlight, India Design Vision 2015 - a roadmap to building the 'India Fashion Brand' into a viable component of the premium and luxury market - both in India and abroad. The members of FDPC's governing council aim to make this FDPC's 'manifesto' over the next five years.
INDIA DESIGN VISION 2015
-- EVOLVE - Offer end-to-end process training of fashion and design, both within the fraternity and to the industry beyond - thereby fuelling investment.
-- ENGAGE - Build a marketing and communication program to engage premium and luxury consumers into opting for Indian designer wear.
-- ENCOURAGE - Uncover new talent in the field of fashion and design through sustainable programs that enrich the 'India Fashion Brand' gene pool.
-- ENABLE - Create blueprints for education & training and research & development - covering artistic and commercial aspects of fashion and design.
Elaborating more on the ambitious plans, Vijay Singh, Secretary General & CEO - FDPC, said "It is critical to keep showcasing fashion and design. However, the role of industry federations does not end with creating big events and FDPC has more to deliver to its existing members and emerging talent. We are committed to culture the seed of the 'India Fashion Brand' into the larger market. We are working with a positive outlook and are at an advanced stage of discussions with Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) for a unified fashion platform represented by one fashion week. We both are confident about a positive outcome."

With the official dates for the India Fashion & Design Week - S/S 2010 now out, the FDPC has on board an enviable ensemble of top designers who will showcase their creations. Some of the prominent designers who have confirmed their participation at the India Fashion & Design Week - S/S 2010 include Tarun Tahiliani, Rohit Bal, Manish Arora, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Raghavendra Rathore, Anamika Khanna, Leena Singh, Malini Ramani, Sanchita Ajampura, Namrata Joshipuria, Lecoanet Hemant among other prominent participants. The initiative also makes way for younger talent with new enterprise like Gaurav Gupta, Varun Sardana, Rahul Reddy, Atsu Sekhose among others.
