Tamil film industry has crossed 75 years. Tamil films since its inception was dominated by Heros but they are all under Producers.
Producers like AVM, Gemini and others having command over heros, even Gemini Ganesan, MGR and Sivaji accepted the commands of the producers like AV Meyyappa Chettiar and Gemini Vasan. But, After Rajni - kamal period the tamil film industry has taken a new turn and they commanded the producers and accepted the commands of Directors like Bharathiraja and Balachander. Now Vijay - Ajith period tamil films are mostly dominated by Heros. They are the decision makers. Eventhough Music directors like A.R.Rahman, Yuvan Shankar Raja and Illyaraja have some control ,they can command only their parts but not the whole film. Heroines like Simran Kushboo, Now Asin, Trisha, Nayanathara have some market, the are not equavlient to Savithiri or K.R.Vijaya.

K.R.Vijaya, Savithiri, Sajoja devi dominated the tamil movies in their life time, but now heroine don't have much domination and there are so many competitions.

Directors Balachander, Bharathiraja and Sridhar had control over movies, but now, Even super hit directors like Bala, Ameer, Tharani and others has to obey the orders of Heros.

Is it a good trend. A producer is the backbone of a movie. without him / her their will be no film will be produced. What do you think about the current trend in Tamil films.

tamil movies is currently dominated by mostly actors ( heros), but there are some directors like shankar who still have control over heros, rajni has been controlled by shankar in most of the scences in sivaji.

see there in hollywood, scriptwriters doing strike and whole hollywood is closed. but, here there is no proper guild for scriptwriters, in previous days like aarudas and others are there for writing scripts, but here in tamil films a director is all in all, script writer, director, music director and all, so there is shortage for good films, and they beg actors for call sheet and doing films for the interest of heros like vijay, surya, ajith. this is a not a good sign for movies.

in kerala there are separte script writers available, directors will do only direct a movie. so, there will be natural and good scripts available and win the box office. it will be a healthy one. here there are only artifical fights, songs and skin show glamours of actress are the reasons for a victory of a film.

i think it's heroines dominating the field, i see it in different angle. see if there is no heroine in a film no film will run even rajni and vijay film also won't run more than 10 days. vijay need trisha or asin to run his film, surya badly need asin and i ajith is also not an exception. every hero in tamil or any film need a heroine to show their skin show to the audience. the film is not only running for a hero, it runs for hero on the first 10 days, after 10 days for actress glamour sonngs and after that only for the story line. the fan clubs can run a movie for 100 days ( note it will also happen in only a single theatre not all the theatres )only for the ego of the fans to run their thalaivars film successfully at box office.
i think the audience are the real dominators in this field.

i think today vadivelu is dominating the fied. just see my name, i am vivek and praising vadivelu. yes, i am fan of comedy king vadivelu. "Kelambitaangaiya kelabitaanga" nu thonutha. i think there is no movie coming to the box office withouth the comedy track of vadivelu. every hero, producer and director need vadivelu badly for a hit movie. that's the 100 % true

no doubt, it's heroes period now, they are the dominating factor, well, producers will become dominating factor if they are like udayanidhi with political backing, but as of now, actors ruling the film industry in tamil
