An interactive drama therapy workshop
facilitated by Mahnoor Yar Khan

Drama creates an atmosphere and space where we can express ourselves without feeling threatened. it also provides us with an alternative language - a language beyond the mere verbal. Drama allows unlimited possibilities for response . it allows one to experiment with identity , discover and express dormant aspects of oneself, and practice new ways of relating.

"I Want to be me" is a three day interactive workshop that puts participants through a series of drama techniques through which participants can address concerns be they social, cultural , personal and / or political.

The point of the use of drama techniques as a healing process is not to teach people how to act but to be used as a medium through which each participant partcipates at her / his own level. The important aspect of this process is getting the group to accept each one for what they are and not imposing what they feel is right or wrong. Moving away from conditioned trends in thinking to a more open and liberal acceptance of what is and then taking it from there.

This experiential workshop will be introduced in a private space with no observers and no public perforamnces.

About the facilitator ; Mahnoor Yar Khan
Mahnoor Yar Khan has been using techniques in drama as a tool to address concerns and look for alternatives to those concerns as a healing process. She started heer research in 1992 and has since conducted a series of workshops and training programs in Palestine, Camodia, Srilanka, Lebanon and India. Mahnoor has worked with adolescents, young adults, women, teachers, animators , IT professionals and others.

About the organization :
Rainbow Inc was founded in Hyderabad by Tripura Kashyap and Mahnoor Yar Kahn. Rainbow currently has branches in Nepal and eight cities in India. Program cooridnators in each city organize a variety of art events through out the year. Rainbow offers workshops and training programs in various art practices and therapies such as dance, drama, music, virutal art etc.
Artists, teachers and art therapists are continously invited to facilitate these workshops in different cities.
