yes, the main reason is the director ! as we take the latest kuselan which is a remake of katha parayumbol, it becomes flop because of the only reason P.Vasu.
the mohanan who is the director of katha paryumbol told in an interview that director vasu unwantedly inserted several scenes like "sona" and "vadivelu" glamour comedy scenes and rajnikanth's scenes. yes he is right.
tamil directors who is remaking films from other languages especially from malayalam should be cautious because of the story ! in malayalam they always give importance to the story and not for glamour or hype about the film star.
p.vasu should learn lesson from this. chandramukhi was a hit movie because the story was not diluted by the director.
i will say raja is the remake specialist who is doing only remake movies only from telugu. he know's the technique to make the film more attractive to the tamil film audience.

i will say directors should be careful in making the remake films. i won't accept that jayam raja is specialist in remake movies.
see he is doing only telugu films into tamil. telugu film were all mostly or even more glamour, stunt scenes and double meaning dialogues and superstar worship like nagarjuna, mahesh babu, ntr jr, chiranjeevi, krishna etc., so he is able to remake into tamil without any problem. if he select malayalam movie it will be tough one for him. he should be called as specialist only if select a film from malayalam for his next venture

the reason for kuselan flop is the reason is p.vasu.
rajni already told that the movie is of pasupathy and not his movie. he made it clear. rajni 25 % , vadivelu 25 % and pasupathy 50 % but p.vasu made statements that the film is full and full rajni film and his fans can expect rajni throughout the film , this made the distributors to buy the film on this high price of 60 crores. but as rajni is not the main, the fans get upset and the film is also not upto the mark as in malayalam. that's the reason . but now vasu denying that he not said it's a rajni film. mr.vasu, don't be too smart.

not at all..billa was a remake film from hindhi to tamil..its a hit movie..but reason of flop movies,screenplay..its a different between language to language...so its want some minor changes in screenplay..

malayalam films r making with the help of inborn talented ace actors like padmasri.Lt.Col.Bharath Mohanlal, padmasri BHARAT Mammooty, dileep, prithviraj,sureshgopi,jairam,srinivasan,jagathi,murali,nedumudi venu,kalabhavan mani,thilakan etc, the role performed by these ace actors cant be imitated. because almost all actors in tamil (except KAMAL,VIKRAM,PRAKASH RAJ, SURYA(upto a certain limit) are doing artificial acting, they were acting only 4 money, they were acting without understanding the importance of character. for eg, Rajni kant's acting performance in the movies like muthu(tenmavin kombath-mohanlal) Chandramughi(manichitratazhu-Mohanlal), KUSELAN(kadaparayumbol-Mammooty). I saw the tamil version of these malayalam movies with my north indian friends in BITS Pilani, they were laughed a lot while watching the emotional scenes of the above tamil movies. this leads me 2 compare the our movies with malayalam, i totally wondered and surprised after watching the real version in malayalam. I had joined the fan club of Mohanlal after watching his movies. I UNDERSTOOD DAT almost 175 (in last 12 years )malayalam movies was remaded in other languages. Only talented actors can perform well, not showmen's cant express emotions. Everybody will join with my opinion if u watch those malayalam movies. TELUGU movies is almost similar 2 tamil, there is no reality in TELUGU movies. To compare with TELUGU tamil is more better. Only limitation of malayalam movies is the limit of budget. i hope malayalam movies can overcome from dat quickly. if any body cant agree with my words pls give me a mail my id is vineethsmailid@gmail.com

the reason simple, for our tamil directors, there should be 4 fight sequences, 2 kuthu paatu, 2 sokam paatu, vadivelu or vivek comedy should be there. in between these they will tell the story which was successful in other language. that's why, they won't give us the same story here.
chandramukhi is exemption, there are only few directors who can really remake and make them success in tamil.
if you need story / based movie, then we should remake it from malayalam, if you need action based commercial movie to remake , you should do it from telugu. jayam raja is successful in remaking the telugu movies in tamil.
hope, there will be someone will come to remake malayalam movies in tamil and make them success and hit
