concert to open International Film Festival:
To
present Indian cinema's colour and vibrancy to a global audience, this
year's International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will open in Goa
with an A. R. Rahman concert. Rehman will perform songs from director
Subhash Ghai's forthcoming release, "Kisna - The Warrior
Poet", which stars Vivek Oberoi and danseuse Isha Sharvani in her
maiden role. Sharvani is set to charm audiences with a live rope dance
performed at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Hall, the film festival's
official venue. The opening ceremony will be telecast live on
Doordarshan.The festival's opening film is Mira Nair's "Vanity
Fair". Nair is expected to attend, although it is not known if
any of her star cast will be there.

music is my greatest passion: Shibani Kashyap
New Delhi, Delhi girl Shibani Kashyap, whose Bollywood number "Zinda
hoon main..." is a rage these days, loves to sing and perform on
stage. But her greatest passion lies in composing music. "I love
singing, but what excites me most is composing music. Here you can put
your creativity into music and its scope is limitless," said
Shibani, who composed and sang the title track of Sanjay Gupta's
blockbuster "Zinda". The singer, who also composed two songs
for Aditya Bhattacharya's "Dubai Return", believes the music
industry is not "male-dominated" and its one's "talent
and not gender" that brings recognition.
Saif's crew cut against Kareena's long tresses!
Mumbai, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are giving their tresses a
vastly different look for Vishal Bharadwaj's "Othello". Saif,
sporting shoulder-length hair till recently, has decided to go for a
crew cut to play Vishal's Uttar Pradesh-version of Shakes peare's
sinister villain Iago. "The shoulder-length hair gave me the
right look for my rock concert in Delhi. For Vishal's film I was
contemplating various looks. Going completely bald is not an option.
So I have gone for a crew cut. It gives me the north Indian loutish
look," says Saif.
Good talent getting disqualified: Sonu Nigam
Mumbai, An upset Sonu Nigam, who along with co-judges Anu Malik and
Farah Khan staged a walkout from "Indian Idol" after prized
contestant Ameya Date was eliminated, says their move was a warning
against disqualifying good talent. Sonu explains about Tuesday's
episode, "Very honestly, as a judge on 'Indian Idol' I can't
afford to be particularly fond of anyone. But, yes, Ameya has a great
future.

Rohan Sippy's "Bluffmaster", which is slowly becoming
popular.

Himesh Reshammiya; Music: Himesh Reshammiya. The song stands out
because of the nasal effect given by the singer. It has the potential
to stay on the charts for a longer time.
Don't today's singers have anything new to offer? Lata Mangeshkar
Mumbai, Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, who had refused to sing
"Mujhe buddha mil gaya" for Raj Kapoor's "Sangam"
as she considered it vulgar, laments the lack of originality in new
singers. "The upcoming girls and boys who dance to vulgar tunes

Deepa Mehta set to make another comedy
Mumbai, Deepa Mehta is finally ready to attempt another comedy after
"Hollywood Bollywood". Two years ago when Mehta wanted to
cast Kareena Kapoor as Kalyani in "Water", she also wanted
to have the actress in a rustic comedy about two rival wrestling gangs
in a village ring and how they come together because of this girl.

Kathmandu, Nepal lost one of its brightest stars with the death of
singer Tara Devi following a prolonged illness. She was 61. Tara Devi,
