(by : Manohar Chimmani - Tollywood Director)
Yes. Hero Nagarjuna entered his 20th year this week as a Hero. According to Tollywood Press, Nag was launched into Telugu Cinema on 23rd May 1986. The film was Vikram, a remake of Subhash Ghai’s blockbuster musical Hero. Since then he has come a long way re-writing the stardom rules and churning

setting blockbusters like Geetanjali, Shiva and Annamayya. In the last 19 years of Nagarjuna’s career he had seen usual ups and downs. Though he had earlier hits like Majnu and Collector Gaari Abbayi, it is Geetanjali that brought him new fans and he came out from his legendary father ANR’s shadow with that. After that came Shiva, a Tollywood’s trend setter movie of recent times (with Ramgopal Varma as its debutant director), and firmed up his position.
And yes, Nag too went through spate of flops in his career at one time particularly after Shiva but he never felt depressed. According to him, failures have made him realize how bad films that he had done and learnt from the mistakes. Attitude! Nag’s all time favorite is Shiva – for everything. And for Annamayya - he liked the film as an audience more than anything else. Nagarjuna who is synonymous with style and grace in Tollywood, reached to the pinnacles as a hero very long back. Now he is also revived his father Akkineni’s prestigious banner Annapoorna Studios and becoming one of the most successful producers of recent times in
Tollywood.
Nagarjuna leads a healthy life. He does swimming regularly and also practices yoga. He has always been gentle and calm. Nagarjuna is the only star in Tollywood who strictly not works on Sundays. Know the reason? He believes acting is not the be all and end all of life. He has a life apart from the movies. That’s why he takes Sundays complete off. During week days also, after his shoot finishes, he immediately heads off to his home and enjoy quality time with his family.
Nag also goes to Maldives regularly for scuba diving. Now, of course, Nagarjuna may be in his 40’s but looks very awesome and handsome than ever with his new long hair Super getup for the ace director Puri Jagannath’s Super movie. We have nubile and stunning sirens Ayesha Takia and Ansushka Shetty from Mumbai are playing the female leads in the film… as usual to Nag’s routine but different taste.
For the first time in the history of Tollywood, Nagarjuna’s Super songs were premiered on national music channels. The songs composed by Sandeep Chowta are currently being aired on Channel V. Soon MTV will air them. Produced by Nagarjuna himself and directed by Poori Jagannath, the Super’s music premiering on a national music channel, much before than our regional channels is a big feat! Meanwhile,Super’s music is to be launched on June 5th in Hyderabad and the movie is planned to release after June 3rd week.
