How
to choose the perfect swimsuit
(NC)-The backyard pool party season is here and you need a new swimsuit. Sears Canada's Apparel Trend Manager, Sarah Chrystman, offers advice on how to choose a bathing suit - one piece or two - that looks great, feels comfortable and enhances your best features while minimizing those trouble areas - waist, hips, tummy and bust.
"Knowing your own body shape can help you narrow down what looks best on you and takes away a lot of the stress associated with buying a new swimsuit," says Chrystman. It's just a matter of knowing what to look for to enhance your best features.
Shopping for the hottest and best fitting swimsuit is as easy as 1,2,3.
1. Look for styles that flatter your body type.
Sears fashion experts have classified swimsuits into body type categories and have assigned each body type an icon.
A-Shape
These suits draw attention away from your hips.
I-Shape
These suits give you the illusion of a waistline, often with tummy control.
V-Shape
These suits play up your bust area.
X-Shape
These suits have a balanced effect whether due to pattern or cut.
And Specialty Suits
These suits provide support and shaping for those with special requirements (e.g. long torso, post-mastectomy)
2. Measure your bust, waist, hips and torso correctly.
3. Look for construction details that appeal to you.
